Look What Wyatt Can Do!!!

So it is official... Wyatt is a walker! At 11 months almost to the day. He started walking more than just a few steps over the Halloween weekend. It was really fun too because Nonie was visiting! It was so neat to see the difference in his strength and confidence from Thursday to Sunday. Now he is just motoring around all over the house. (Sigh!)

Mutton Bustin'

Every year at the fair they do this thing called "Mutton Bustin'" and kids 3-6 years old can enter a contest to see who can stay on the sheep the longest. I guess this is actually a big thing and there is a national championship and everything. Oh My! Well, Emily decided she wanted to give it a try this year and so here it is...

First Day of Kindergarten

Emily started full day kindergarten this fall. She is doing really well and is already starting to read!!! She seems to have really adjusted to the long day and is enjoying school very much. She of course has already made lots of friends and knows pretty much all of the adults and teachers in the building. It is so cute to watch her when I drop her off each morning, she always greets the principal and other staff that are waiting outside.

Emily's Song...

So we watched the Hannah Montana Movie the other night as a family (I know!!!) and ever since then Emily has been singing and telling us she is writing songs. So here is a sample....Notice her look over at her music sheet! Too cute!

Wyatt is now 9 months old!!! He has...

1. started to try to stand on his own

2. cut two more teeth

3. trying to walk behind little "pop car"

4. loves to do "SO BIG" and throw his hands up

5. can say hi, dada, night night, no, quack like a duck and uses a word with the right amount of syllables for Emily

6. loves to get your attention by using his "social" cough

Mariner's Game

Here are a few pictures from the most recent Mariner's Game we attended. Emily discovered the kids play zone and Wyatt crashed with Daddy. We had a great time and to make it even better, the Mariner's WON!

Palm Springs Trip

We spent 2 weeks in Palm Springs in June. We were so lucky to spend the first week with my dear friend, Laura, her husband and 2 beautiful girls. The weather was mild, the guys got to golf, and Laura and I even got away for a little "girl time." Of course the time went by too fast. I was so sad to have to say good-bye.

We also were able to spend LOTS of time at the pool. I am pretty sure Emily has grown gills. Wyatt got to experience the pool for the first time and loved it! He also learned how to crawl when we were gone, and has gotten quite good at it too. Last but not least, Daniel and I celebrated our 10th anniversary! My parents came down and watched the kids while we spent the day at the spa and then went to dinner. We had a very nice time.

Look Who's Crawling!!!

Wyatt has been trying to crawl for a few weeks now. He started getting up on his hands and knees and rocking a few weeks ago, but still was using rolling as his primary mode of transportation. Just in the past week or so he really has made progress forward, literally, and then today everything just clicked! Emily got it on video for us.

(A few days late...)

Wow! It is so hard to believe that 5 years ago we were just starting our life together as a new family of 3. I can still remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. How the time flies!

Emily, you have made our lives so rich and filled with joy! You are incredibly smart, friendly and caring of others. You are as busy as a bee and love life and all it has to offer. Our hope and prayer for you, as you grow and begin new adventures in life, is that you will grow up loving the Lord and following Him.

We cherish every moment we have with you! We love you SO much!

Look What I Can Do...

About a week ago I noticed that Wyatt was starting to sit up a little on his own, however, he was mostly folded in half trying to eat his toes! So, today I sat him down to see if he had improved and "viola" he can sit!!! He still is using his little hand for support, and if he moves too fast or turns his head too far to look at something he topples over, but he should be a strong solo sitter in a week or two. WOW! It is so amazing how fast they learn and change. He just turned 5 months old yesterday!

So Cute

Here are a few pictures of Emily and Wyatt that I took today. Wyatt is almost 5 months old and Emily is almost 5 years! Wow! Time flies.

I Think My Sister is HILARIOUS!

No one is able to get Wyatt to laugh like Emily. She doesn't have to even be trying and he laughs hysterically at her. It is the sweetest thing I have ever seen! All she has to do is walk around in the room in front of him and he starts to belly laugh! SO adorable. Here is a little glimpse of how it all goes....

Wyatt's first bites...

Wyatt is almost 5 months old (I know can you believe it!?!?) and so we decided to go ahead and try out some rice cereal for the first time tonight. He did really good. By the end he was opening his mouth really wide for more and grabbing for the spoon! Very cute! Here is a little video and a few pictures.

Read, Write, Draw...

Emily has discovered a new love for reading, writing, and drawing. She walks around with notebook paper and pencils and asks how to spell everything. She also writes down random letters and asks what they spell.

She loves to do "art." Her little drawings are starting to look SO cute!

We also read tons of books everyday. We have been going to the library and checking out books by specific authors. She loves to read all the books by each author. We have been talking about fiction/non-fiction, the parts of the book etc. The most amazing thing is that she noticied that the illustrations in one book looked like the illustrations in another, and sure enough when we compared the two, they had the same illustrator! So she is now really aware of who the illustrator is too! This warms mommy's heart because I have a huge love for books. Some of her favorite authors at the moment are Karma Wilson, Kevin Henkes, Judith Voirst and Mo Willems.
